Thank you very much USMLESOURCE.COM
Respected Sir,
I passed CS on my 2nd attempt. And credit goes to USMLESOURCE.COM. Thank you very much for creating this great resource. The cases and the approach using a Mnemonic and the free videos in the forums at Usmlesource.com were very helpful.
I got 14-15 rejections from few Internal medicine and FM programs. I applied t0 127 programs in FM n IM. I am confused if you can help me it will be highly appriciated.
Currently I got 50 hours CME. I have only the update after submitting CAF that. Rest of the things regarding USCE is the same as ongoing 6th month of observership at PVT clinic. My questions are
1. Does CME help at anypoint. If yes than is it necessary to Update and if yes than how?
2. Should I call Program to know my status of application.
3. Should I try to apply more programs in Pshyc and Peds near about 20?
4. Are there any chances for IVs after ECFMG certificate?? Can I change my ECFMG certification option in profile as my medical credentials are verified and I met all there requirement of ECFMG certificate and expecting in 2 weeks? Should I change about ECFMG cerificate from No to Yes?
5. I have EAD and expecting G card in Feb-mar Should I go for Step3 Exam .. if yes than when Should i take S3 Exam ideally?? Thanks,
Regards

I am glad to hear that you passed Usmle step 2 CS and our sister project Usmlesource helped you. As somebody who has been through the process, I can say that the CS examination is unique in that it puts you in front of real people who will assess your every move as a doctor. While it is a cause for anxiety especially for many IMG's, the process is pretty simple. The approach at Usmlesource was to make it easy and simple so that even under stress, you can deliver and get maximum points. As for the residency match, nothing is impossible. Every IMG's path is unique. You just have to be persistent and not give up until the door opens for you. Your CME is not going to have any major impact since it is more geared toward doctors that completed the training and need to have certain CME credits annually for license renewals etc. However, it helps in knowledge building and is a good thing. You do not need to send any update to the programs on this, though. Do not change the status of ECFMG until you get it. You did not mention your scores or other credentials. If you would like, you can apply to other specialties but the most important thing is to concentrate on one specialty, get US LOR's, keep in touch with programs via email and phone and be persistent. While it is stressful, and at times frustrating, you only need one chance to get into the system. I know many people with low scores or attempts that made it with persistence and hard work. All the best.

2. Should i apply to Peds or Psy
3. any further input will be highly appreciated thanks one more time for USMLESOURCE.COM
Sorry for the delay, I did not realize there was a question here. The best way to get my attention is to start a new thread and drop a line by email to ptumpati at gmail dot com.
As for the step 3, the best time to take is when you are confident and ready. The goal is to pass first time. If you want H1, then pass it before september 1st.
2. It is probably spreading too thin applying to other specialties at this point. Just follow up on the ones you applied, I think applying to fresh programs or new specialties is kind of late and may not be worth the effort. All the best.
