Would you please explain to me the differences b/w preliminary and transitional positions. If I plan to go to Radiology, which one should I choose to go first?

Transitional for those that are not decided on which specialty they are going into and need some time to figure out. Preliminary for those that aleardy know where they are going. You should apply for Prelim. GL!
