Help,I just started preparing for step1

Dear prab,
I am from vizag. I will finish my internship in july 2007.I am planning to write USMLE and take a visa for step 2 CS. I started preparing for step 1.when should i write step1 and step 2 so that I would be eligible for 2009 residency. please reply. Thanks in advance.

Good to know you got started on step 1 prep and welcome to Residentscafe. If you have Kaplan videos or DVD's and the material, you should be OK. Just go through the DVD's a couple of times and read the material thourougly. I would not use too many books. Have one main material like Kaplan and the rest should be reference whenever you have a doubt. Make sure you get over 80%, preferably over 85% before you take the exam. All the best.
