8O Dear prab,
I am from vizag. I will finish my internship in july 2007.I am planning to write USMLE and take a visa for step 2 CS. I started preparing for step 1.when should i write step1 and step 2 so that I would be eligible for 2009 residency. please reply. Thanks in advance
Hi,
I think it entirely depends on how you score on the practice exams. Do not do the common mistake of taking the exam without scoring well on practice exams. You should score above 80 percent on the practice tests so that you will get 90 or so in two digit score. Having said that, I think you have good amount of time. Take about 6 months or so for step 1, apply for CS and try to take step 2 CK when you get the VISA. Also start applying for MPH or other courses, you may want to take TOEFL, GRE since visa can be big issue and it is not entirely safe just to rely on step 2 CS visa. Keep your options open. All the best.
