Hi,
Q: i am looking for h1b visa for my residency and i have heard that if one is looking for residency h1b visa he should not apply for extension as one face problem during his h1b visa processing.i just want to ask if i go for extension will it effect my h1b visa in future A: It does not affect your H1B application even if you extend. However, you cannot just ask for another 6months without documentation as to why you need to extend such as interview invitations etc. which you do not have at this time. It is a good idea to consider leaving and coming back if you have already into close to 6months since the interview season may extend until JAN/FEB and the 6months may not be adequate. Q:2.if my application for extension rejected my 10yr visa will be cancelled and i have to again apply for visa from india.is it right. A:I am not sure about this because extension of stay is different from visa in the passport. I doubt they would take the visa back. However, it may raise some questions at the port of entry next time as to why it was rejected. If you have some documentation as to why you need the extension, it is usually granted. Ofcourse, the safest thing to do is to leave and comeback. If you really want to extend it, you should talk to am immigration attorney for guidance on this.
