EAD vs H1,J1

By Anonymous - Posted on 03 September 2007

My wife has applied for EAD as a derivative of my I -485 application. I am wondering if she should apply for residency just on EAD or select all three EAD, H1, J1 ? a) If we say EAD, that might help my wife atleast get the interviews. Does this scenario totally exclude the option of H1/J1 in the future?....At the time of interview she can tell them if she needs H1 or J1 other scenario
b) If we select EAD,J1,H1 - programs might think she needs a visa and might not even entertain her application.
Hi,
Thanks for the compliments. I completed my residency and am an attending physician now. I like to help others and even though it takes some time, I enjoy it. Do spread the good word to your friends. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. It is indeed very helpful. Kudos on running such a website and helping people. Wonder how you manage to it with your busy schedule - Are you still doing your residency or done with it?
Hi,
Most programs know what an EAD means and if they do not, they will ask you. 95% of the programs know since they have been doing this for so long. It is upto you to decide whether to use EAD or go for H1. Choosing EAD/GC would be fine and it does help improve her chances. Most programs are flexible and if that program also sponsors for H1 anyway, you can ask for H1. At this point your primary goal should be secure the maximum number of interviews and using EAD or GC (for programs, it does not make too much of difference even if you say GC when on EAD). I would say EAD. All the best.
