fellowship

By Anonymous - Posted on 28 September 2007

hi,
if one leaves US after completion of residency on a J1 visa, would it be difficult to get into fellowship after the 2 yr period of stay outside US?
How does one apply for fellowship from outside US?
is there any exam to be taken for it? thanks
Hi,
You can do fellowship also on J1 without leaving the US since J1 is for 7 years. If you do leave, and come back on J1 again, I am not sure if you have to leave or go through waiver again after fellowship. The best thing is to do fellowship on J1 before you leave. You can apply even while you are abroad but you need a visitor visa to go for interviews. All the best.
