Applying for green card

By Anonymous - Posted on 20 December 2007

Dear Dr Prab,
I am a PGY2 in int med (indian). Am on H1B @ present.Would be looking around for a job in my 3rd yr which will be ready to sponsor for a green card for me. My question is.....how long is it taking these days to get the labor certification for indians and also...once I get the LCA does that mean that I will be allowed to stay on without a problem? How long is it taking these days for the complete process to take place? Would really appreciate your help in this as I am just starting off with this process.
thanks.....4-8yrs is a REALLLYYYYYYY long time.
Hi,
Once your labor is approved, your H1 gets validated indifinetely so you do not have to leave the country for 1 year after 7 years. The process is taking quite some time, nobody really knows how long since it keeps changing, anywhere from 4-8 years is what my guess would be. All the best.
