very urgent..pl help with the situation
Hello Dr {Prab,
I am doing my PGY1 in FM and tried to get into OBGyn and got couple of interviews. I also got an interview from the OBG prog from my hospital. They like me and etc and I got an email from OB prog director that I have to produce a letter of good standing from my current residency program director before they send the rank order list. I had not disclosed my interest nin OBGyn to anyone till now. IF I have to produce the letter then I have to disclose the situation my PD and I dont understand how to handle this situation. PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLl help me and give me a very good suggestion so that I have a good stanind in both the places. PLLLLLLLLLLLLLL help me ASAP.

You have to be honest and tell them sooner than latter about your interest in OB/GYN. Most program directors will understand and will give a letter of good standing unless you have some thing like being on probation etc. IF you like OB better than FM, tell the PD. You will be OK and the PD most likely will understand and congratulate. They will find somebody else to fill your place. You can offer to tell others such as posting on this forum for those that might be looking for a second year slot. Programs like to know early and you should talk to them soon. Just be bold and honest. All the best.
