[b]residents retreats- [/b]Fun time! you should look forward to it. You will get to go on a retreat for a day or two with other interns! [b]off campus electives- [/b]if you want to do a rotation, which is usually 1 month, at a hospital other than the one you are doing residency at. They have some rotations that are optional called electives. If you like GI, you can talk to a hospital where you may be interested in doing a fellowship at and do an elective month there so you can work with them and get to know them. Of course, it is optional so if you want to choose something at your hospital, you can do so! [b]cultural competence awareness[/b]- Just some education of cross culture issues, I guess! [b]moving allowance- [/b]Some money you can use / borrrow up front when you move and it will be deducted from your pay checks latter on! [b]allowance/stipend for proffesion expenses- [/b]money you get to buy books, attend conferences etc. [b]no housing stipend- [/b]it means what the words say, no money for your rent! Ofcourse, you will get a salary as a resident so you can stay in an apartment. [b]moonlight allowed-[/b] If you want to work some extra shifts and make money when you are free, like on weekends etc. good thing! [b]no night float system-[/b] if the program does not have some people that work on a month long night duty! Ie, they have a rotation where that person for that month covers the PRN issues. It is a good system or else, you may be on call more often on the floors. [b]awareness and mgmt of fatigue in residents-PDA-bassinests.[/b] it is obvious!
