Obstetrics and Gynecology GOOD LUCK WITH THE 2009 MATCH!!! Ob/Gyn is an excellent speciality!! If you really love it, never give up. Be persistent and always be prepared for he the worst, coz its very true that 50-60% of the Ob/Gyn FMG applicants go unmatched!! Try and get some USCE- observership/research!! try and hook up with the faculty who can recommend you very strongly for the residency applications!! NEVER GIVE UP!! IT IS ONE THE BEST SPECIALTIES IN FIElD OF MEDICINE! Anju
My list has many university programs, so this is not an ideal list!! figure out what you really want from your dream residency program!! The reason is I want to do fellowship in High risk Obstetrics (Maternal-Fetal Medicine)..so I wanted to be in an academic program which have lots of MFM research and an excellent training!! but the downside is that these programs do not consider the FMG's even if you have an excellent CV and recommendations coz they have excellent American graduates and medical students who have done a lot more in this setting and they have excellent letters from their attending and chairman!! Do not get frustrated by this, we would have to live with it.. I am not saying give up for the university programs even before applications, try for the best and be prepared for the rejections from these programs early in your application period!! You would have better luck if you are US citizen or GC!! coz visa is another limitation for international graduates as many of the big name programs have little knowledge about the visa sponsorship and so forth, unless they have international people in their own program!!
