Under what circumstances it should be done and not done? Also sometimes the lab result takes two days to arrive. In such a circumstance am I simply supposed to advance the simulated time to see the lab result or do I have to schedule an appointment in two days to see the lab report? Expecting a reply from you.Thanks.

It is a matter of your judgement. This is how it works. If, you decide that, there is nothing else to do othern to get the blood test results in that time frame, you can go ahead and advance the clock. Let us say you have a case of Pneumothorax and you want a CT scan(which may not be the best thing do given the emergency) and you advance the clock to get the result, you will get a message saying " the patient reports his SOB is worse" or the nurse reports the same. So, in that case, you should rather address the SOB, do a quick focussed physical and put in a chest tube. You can order a portable if the patient is hemodynamically stable. So, the answer to your question, it depends on the case. If you took care of the current care of the patient and you just need the result to move on, go ahead and advance the clock. You do not need a follow up appointment just to get the lab result. You only need to schedule a follow up based on the normal practice for that kind of case and not based on when the lab results are back. Hope that helps.
