GC and residency

By hippo - Posted on 20 March 2009

Hi Prab, I'll be doing IM residency in a community program on H1.Is it legally possible to initiate the GC processing by the hospital while I'm doing residency if I convince them that I would bear the expenses?
I understand that GC is filed for a future employment. What do the hospital show as "future" employment while I'm already doing a residency? Please advice!
Thanks
Hi,
Sorry for the delay. Was in vacation. Yes, it is possible to file for a Green card even though there are not many programs that may be willing to do it. Abington does it in second year and that is where I did my residency. As for as future employement, you can actually do it with present employement as a resident. You do not need to show as a future employement. If you want, you can also find an employer after residency and file based on future employement if your residency program is not willing. All the best.
