Emory University?s Ob/gyn - Atlanta,GA
Thank you for your interest in Emory University?s Gynecology and Obstetrics Residency program.
We will begin accepting applications for 2005 in September 2005 through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) only.
Emory?s program is both rigorous and competitive. Each year we receive more than 350 applications, interview 90 candidates, and offer 9 four-year positions.
We accept applications through ERAS ONLY. Please do not send paper applications or additional paper documents. Interviews are granted on an invitation only basis. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) should visit ECFMG at http://www.ecfmg.org/eras/index.html. IMGs applying to our program should be aware of the following:
While we do not require clinical experience in the US (such as an elective or externship) we strongly recommend it as it does make you a more attractive applicant. You must be fully ECFMG certified by Rank Day (February 2005). If the CSA is taken after that date, you cannot participate in the 2005 Match. Thus, you need to have successfully completed or have scheduled the CSA prior to January 31, 2005 and have a valid ECFMG certificate by February 2005.
Emory University currently sponsors J-1 visas. If you wish to pursue this route, please contact:

In order for Emory to sponsor an H-1 visa, the physician must have already passed USMLE Steps, 2 and 3 (and be eligible for a Georgia Medical License). H1-B1 visas are a possibility but not guaranteed, as our experience this year has shown. If you wish to pursue this route, please contact:

Minimum Scores = PASSING (We do not have any particular USMLE score at which we do/do not grant an interview, but obviously those with the best score have a better chance of getting invited. Thus it is advantageous to have competitive scores)
Two letters of recommendation (one must be from a faculty member of your Department of Gyn/Ob).
Dean?s letter We hope this is helpful. For more information please visit us as http://gynob.emory.edu Thank you again for your interest. Kathleen Handziuk
