Here is the correlation between 2 digit scores and the three digit scores and as well as the NMBE assesment test. This was taken from Ahdy's diary. Many thanks to him. 75---- 182

Some say when you get a percentage from doing you Kaplan Q banks. TO get a rough estimate of the real scores just add 15% to the current percentage and there will be your real scores. For example 75% from one of the Kaplan Q bank, that would mean 90% on the 2 digit score. This is just an estimate, but useful to see where you are. Hope this Helps

Hi guys,
244=99244=99
So sorry to hear about that. What is important to know is that you need to do the practice test in timed test. Do each test as if it is a real exam. What I did was actually do all the 7 test in one day with 5 minute break like the real exam for 5 days.

I averaged 70% in Qbank and NBME predicted 220 for me, yet my real score was only 201/82 so all predictions were WAY off for me :(
what i found useful was multiplying my average percentage on kaplan tothe total of questions to get the 3 digit score. based on my experience, it was pretty accurate since i was averaging 63-65% in Kaplan and my final score was 221. (.63X350= 220) then you can just use the scale in the post above to more or less figure out your 2 digit score.
Although there is not great source of information regarding the difference between 2 digit vs 3 digit scores, several chief residents have informed me that usually programs use the 2 digit scores for cutoff purposes. This is because of variance between two digit scores and three digit scores.
For example, student A may have 209 which correlated to an 85 for him but student B had a 210 which also correlated to an 85. So it wouldn't make sense to use a three digit score as a cut-off point of say 210 in this case because both student A and student B performed about equally.
Some program websites do publish cutoffs listing both 2 and 3 digit scores, but mostly they publish 2 digit scores as far as getting into a residency training program. Hope that helps.
So what's the point of the 2 digit score? Why have it when there is such overlap between the 3 digit and the 2 digit?
It is just a rough estimate and easy for most people to correlate. People are so used to it as it is easy to think in terms of percentile.
