Psychiatry Residency University of Arizona Health Sciences

Thank you for your interest in the Psychiatry Residency Training
Program at the
University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. Unfortunately, due to the volume
of email and telephone requests we receive weekly about our program, it is
difficult to answer them all individually. I will attempt to answer some of
your questions below, but please refer to our Departmental website
www.psychiatry.arizona.edu for more detailed information. It is kept fairly
up-to-date by current residents in the program, and should provide you with a
good look into the lectures, residents, faculty, and rotations we offer. Best of luck to you in your search for a residency position. Sincerely, Steven Herron

> 1. Whether you accept International Medical Graduates YES

> 2. Do you sponsor H1 and J1 visas We sponsor only J-1 Visas.(STH) > 3. What are the minimum usmle scores that you would consider We do not have minimum scores we accept for the USMLE (STH) > 4. What are the average scores of your current residents I would have to go back and look at the data, which I don't have available at
this time. I would guess they average about 210. (STH) > 5. Is there a limit on the number of years from graduation We prefer to see no more than 5 years between graduation and training,
but have
been flexible in the past. (STH) > 6. Is any US Clinical Experience required While we don't require US Clinical experience, it is certainly recommended.
(STH) > 7. Would you give weightage to other parts of the application like
> research experience, an advanced degree like Master in Public Health We look at the application as a whole, and do not tend to give any factor more
importance than any other. Certainly research experience and/or an MPH is good
to see, but plenty of our current and past residents have had neither. (STH) > 8. Any other requirements that the program has Please refer to our website. (STH)
