When should I take step2 for the next match

By Anonymous - Posted on 02 April 2004

Hi, guys, I want to go for the next match and have given only step 1 so far. To be on the safe side, what will be ideal time to take step 2 so that I will be ready for the next match. Thanqs.
It is good to take step 2 as early as possible, preferably to have your results back before interview season. A PD would probably be much more willing to take on an applicant who has both his step 1 and step 2 results availalbe as opposed to someone who is missing one of these exams. In his mind, what if this person fails. However, if you have a stellar step 1 score, he may not be that worried. That being said, do not rush your exam just to make yourself more competitive for this years match. Unfortunately, if you do take the step 2, and you pass, you will not be able to take it again. Thus if you are not fully prepared and obtain a low score, this is irrepairable. Thus if you don't feel ready to take the exam, don't take it. If you do feel comfortable, then take it as soon as possible. Hope that helps. :D Tharsan
