Call to interview or pre-screening for an interview

By hksr - Posted on 18 October 2004

I got a call from a ped program which left me a message. The message was from a program coordinator. I am wondering, if they were trying to schedule an interview, or conduct a pre-screening. Is it common to conduct a pre-screening (of applicants) prior to inviting to an interview? If yes, I should prepare myself before calling back. Thanks, hksr
Thanks Dr. Prab

It is hard to predict what they mean without knowing what the message was! It is possible to do a telephone pre-interview even though it is not common in my experience. I do not think you need to prepare for it since it is not a medical or any special interview! Just call them and tell them that you are returning their call! Usually, program coordinators act based on what the review committee wants and most likely they may have a question or are offering an interview. In either case, you should not worry about it! Just relax and call the PC ASAP!
